Search Spokane Police Records

Spokane police records are available through the Spokane Police Department online or in person at the Records Division on West Mallon Avenue. For both police-specific reports and general city public records, Spokane uses the GovQA platform, which lets you submit requests, track status, and download records from one account. Some record types, including collision reports, route through the Washington State Patrol rather than SPD directly, so knowing which agency holds the record you need will save you a step.

Spokane Police Department Records

The Spokane Police Department Records Division handles requests for police reports, incident records, and other law enforcement records generated within Spokane city limits. The division is located at 1100 W Mallon Ave, Spokane, WA 99260. The public records window is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and again from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Note that the window is not open on Monday or Friday, so plan your visit accordingly.

Some reports require photo ID when picked up in person. Public records fees apply to copies. The Public Records Officer for SPD is Marissa Butler. Reach her at (509) 625-4025 or by email at SPDRecordsInfoRequest@SpokanePolice.org. She handles questions about pending requests, fees, and what records exist.

Online requests for Spokane police reports go through the SPD reports page at my.spokanecity.org/police/get-help/reports/. That page also covers non-emergency incident reporting for things like lost property, theft without a suspect present, vehicle prowl, vandalism, vehicle tampering, and harassing calls. Filing a non-emergency report online creates a record number you can use to track the case.

Spokane City Public Records via GovQA

The City of Spokane processes both general city records and police records through the GovQA online platform. The City Clerk acts as the City of Spokane Records Officer. All requests submitted through GovQA are directed to the right department automatically. You do not need to know exactly which city office holds your records before submitting.

Under Washington law, the city must respond within five business days of receipt. That response might include the records themselves, a timeline for a larger request, or a clarification question. GovQA tracks everything, and you can log back in at any time to see the current status of your request.

City of Spokane GovQA public records request portal
The Spokane GovQA portal at my.spokanecity.org/administrative/public-records/ handles all city and police records requests in one place.

Submit your request through my.spokanecity.org/administrative/public-records/. If you already know you need a police report specifically, you can go directly to the SPD reports page linked above. But for anything else city-related, GovQA is the right entry point. More details on the City's process and contact information for the Clerk's office are on that same page.

Spokane Collision Reports and Statewide Records

Traffic collision reports from Spokane streets are handled through the Washington State Patrol, not SPD directly. After officers complete a report at the scene, it goes to WSP's central repository. Requesting the official copy goes through WSP's collision records system.

The WSP Requests for Electronic Collision Records (WRECR) system is available at wsp.wa.gov/driver/collision-records/. The fee is $10.50 per report. You can also report a collision through WSP's Online Motor Vehicle Collision Reporting (OMVCR) system if an officer did not come to the scene. SPD's information page at my.spokanecity.org/police/information/ has direct links to both WSP systems.

Criminal history background checks for Spokane residents or incidents go through the WSP WATCH system. WATCH is name-based and searches the full state criminal history database for $11. Use it at fortress.wa.gov/wsp/watch/. For the full WSP criminal history program overview, visit wsp.wa.gov/crime/criminal-history/.
